“Remember, remember the fifth of November” is the slogan for Guy Fawkes Day, which is today. It commemorates the time the Gunpowder Plot was foiled, and the King and Parliament were saved from being blown up. Guy Fawkes thought that would have been a good idea, apparently, but less explosive heads prevailed.

So, of course, it’s a holiday with fireworks.

The Chinese, by the way, invented gunpowder. In the middle of the 9th century, maybe.

It fits. Twenty years ago today, in China, a remarkable baby girl entered the world. She would explode into our lives 17 months later, but today marks the Big Bang, the Beginning of Everything.

Fireworks don’t even come close.

Happy Birthday, Zoe!
