How is Christ king?
Can I answer this question? At a minimum, can I answer this question for myself?
Can I answer it without using “church language” which, if and when I make the effort to translate it into the language we use every day in our homes and on our jobs and hanging out with our friends, turns out not to mean anything concrete?
Because surely the point of celebrating the Reign of Christ is to celebrate something real.
So we – I – ought to be able to say what that reality is. What it means, in everyday terms, that Christ is king.
At least, what it means for me.
We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.
