Remember, Remember the 5th of November

Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason the fifth of November
Should ever be forgot.

Today is Guy Fawkes Day. People will be celebrating with bonfires and fireworks, more or less commemorating the failure of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605, although that may just be an excuse to light really big fires on a night when people have begun to notice the annual cold darkness of the northern hemisphere closing in.

We, however, will be celebrating a different life-changing event: our daughter’s birthday. Today is one of the big ones. She’s 21.

And more awe-inspiring than any bonfire.
