Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)

Call to Worship [Based on Psalm 9]

The Holy One is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble;
The Holy One defends those who trust and seek God.
The Holy One is the remembrance of the needy,
the restorer of the life of the poor,
calling the mighty to account,
calling the indifferent to consciousness,
calling the oppressor to repentance,
calling the troubler to compassion,
calling all humanity to humanity.
The Holy One hears the cry of the afflicted,
for relief, for forgiveness.
The Holy One hears;
our pleas become shouts of praise.
Let us worship God!

For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
nor the hope of the poor perish forever.
