Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)

Call to Worship [Based on Psalm 48]

Great is the HOLY ONE
and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God

But where is the city of our God?
Is it in another land – on another continent?
Is it in the distant future – the end times?
Is it in our minds’ eye – glorious, and imaginary?

Or is the city of God
in motion – wherever God is leading?
in action – wherever God is at work?
in compassion – wherever God is making whole?
in communion – wherever God is gathering together?
in construction – wherever God is making all things new?

Great is the HOLY ONE
and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God!
Come, Let us worship God!

Your name, O God, like your praise,
reaches to the ends of the earth.
