Second Sunday after Christmas (C)

Call to Worship (based on John 1:1-4, Jeremiah 31:7-14, Ephesians 1:3-14)

In the midst of darkness, we are drawn to a vision of light:
    ancient original light,
    shining since before the foundation of the world,
    a swiftly-traveling message from the source of creation.
In the midst of darkness, we are drawn to a promise of light:
    return and redemption and restoration,
    gladness exchanged for sorrow,
    mourning turned into joy.

In the midst of darkness, we are drawn
    to the Word and the Wisdom
    that awakens the mind and warms the heart
    with the light of God’s love.
Let us worship the One who gives us the light of life!
Let us worship God!
