As a person God gives personal life, God makes us as persons become capable of meeting with God and with one another. But no limitation can come upon God as the absolute Person, either from us or from our relations with one another; in fact we can dedicate to God not merely our persons but also our relations to one another.
Martin Buber, I and Thou, translated by Ronald Gregor Smith, Scribner Classics, 2000 (1958), 125.
